Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,I,C-East Northport) recently stopped by Gallery 37 in Northport to congratulate them on their re-opening. Gallery 37 is a part of Akke Functional Art, a modern furniture design studio founded by Axel Yberg, a former wood worker, to unite natural and industrial elements. Each piece of art is created to serve a practical purpose and add a unique element of modern design to both residential and commercial spaces.
"Just the idea of modern art being awe-inspiringly creative, while at the same time functional, is something unique to the art community," said Raia. "The re-opening of Gallery 37 signals a revitalization of our once-stagnant Northport economy. I hope Mr. Yberg's distinctive furniture proves successful, and I know he will be a great addition to our local Northport art scene."
